Hey everyone,
Unfortunately it turns out Bianca wasn't expecting. As breeding Chinese was a lot more stressful than breeding Syrians we've decided to leave it and not try again for babies with her. - Anastasia

Hey everyone! For the past week or so we have been trying to mate Lance and Bianca - a much harder and more stressful process than mating Syrians! We think we may finally have had success though so watch this space... there might be the pitter patter of tiny baby Chinese hamster feet in the near future! - Anastasia
Hey everyone! Recently we attended Emley Show - again Lynne was judging the Syrians and we didn't enter any of our guys but had a lovely day out nonetheless. I was also show secretary - my first time being show sec as I start my Syrian judge training. It involved lots and lots of labels and writing out placecards but I also got to hug lots of hamsters so it was a good time! We also have two little visitors - these two beautiful little men are staying with us for a short time before they are collected by their new owners and go to their forever homes. We have been referring to them as Roanan and Raisin and they are adorable - makes me miss having baby hams! (note - the reason they are still together is because they are both babies and littermates - fully grown Syrian hamsters should never be kept together.)
Hope you like the pics of these sweet babies and that you are well! - Anastasia Hi everyone! Exciting news! Today we had a lovely day out to Otley Show, where we collected our newest baby from Vectis Hams. Her name is Bianca and she is a black-eyed white Chinese hamster. We hope that she will be a 'wife' for Lance and the mother of the first Chinese hamsters born at Custard. So far she is a very cheeky little madam and not really one for pictures! She is proving to be a real character already! Lynne also judged the Syrian class at Otley - it was a very damp show but at least that kept the tent busy and there were some beautiful hamsters on the show bench. - Anastasia
Hey everyone,
Some sad news from Custard hams. Unfortunately our beautiful lady Creamface McPatch has passed away. We're not sure what happened as she was still such a young lady and full of life. Her beautiful cheeky little face will be much missed. - Anastasia Hi everyone! A very happy Easter from all at Custard. Here are a few pics from out Easter photo shoot - enjoy! - Anastasia
Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's day from us here at Custard! The hamsters celebrated with a little treat each and a Valentine's themed photoshoot - here are a couple of pics! Hope you like and that you all had a lovely day!
- Anastasia Hey everyone - as it was Pancake Day here in the UK yesterday we treated each hamster to a little mini pancake! As there is only egg, milk and flour in them they are safe in a tiny amount as a little treat. Most of the guys pouched them straight up with only Lance having a little nibble. Here are a few pics! - Anastasia
Hey everyone - a belated Happy New Year from all at Custard! Yesterday we went to the Bradford Champs show. It was a good day out and is always an enjoyable show as there are lots of other small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs there and loads of stands to look around. We spent the day helping out with the pen and book stewarding for the Syrian judging which is always nice. We only took 3 of our hams with us - Rupert and Creamface for their first show, and our little Chinese Lance. Rupert and Creamface are both still young and didn't place, though we are proud of them for being so well behaved! Lance however was our little star of the day and came first in his class out of 10! I've included a couple of pics of the day below - hope you enjoy! - Anastasia
Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great Christmas! Our hams all had a lovely day and got lots of treats. I made them each a 'cracker' - a toilet roll filled with treats and wrapped in wrapping paper - and they had a great time unwrapping them and chewing them up to get to the treats. Here are some pics which I hope you all like! Each hamster also got a tiny platter with a little piece of turkey, brussel sprout and parsnip!
Merry Christmas! - Anastasia |
